Mario Fire Flame's

Posted by Michael Eberra on July 28, 2014 at 10:55 PM Comments comments (0)

These were commissioned to be given as a gift. The client contacted me wanting to have them made for his best friend who is a Mario fan. He was wanting something detailed yet not to pricy. The sneakers just needed to have fire Mario and be mostly black. Searching online as I do for a bit of inspiration, I came across a jumping fire Mario pointing at the screen. It was then I realized I had found the perfect picture to use for this design. Though Mario wasn't wielding a fire ball in it.... I needed to free hand it into existence. To give the overall image life I trailed the fire ball to loop around him as if he was really jumping off the shoe.

For the style of painting to chose to go out side of my normal shadow blocking as I do with all my sonic customs and did a full "3D" gradient toning for that realism look. As a final touch to compliment the customs, I had the lace pins custom hand made to look like the fire flower from the games in which Mario gets his fire powers from. Now as for the swooshes I painted them antique gold to resemble the gold coins found in all Mario games.

So I decided to get my step-son a pair of new shoes. He wanted me to paint something onto them. I agreed and we thought of a 3 color way set for it. at first he wanted to go with, Black, White, and Green. After looking at a few laces he could choose from, he changed his mind and wanted to switch green with Silver. I thought to myself, ":silvers nice buuuuuut it would take a lot of coats to finish." Just then he suddenly said, I Got It! Black, White, and Blue. Now theres some colors i can kick out. with a set up like that i was able to finish in a day due to solid colors are less opaqic than say silver or green :). So here we are just in time to show off for school, his dyFader's.

Latest installment of the sonic customs of the year. Defentily has been "The Year Of The Hedgehog" My client wanted these for her son featuring Sonic and his transformation into Super Sonic. Working with the same base dunk hi, the colorway I chose for these were completing free for me to come up with. To set them apart from the other sonic kicks, I picked the baby Tiffany blue and sky gray. Adding a accent of red is only fitted plus leaving the toe box dark blue fit the hyper yellow tone of super sonic pretty well.

I painted theses for my youngest son who is 2yr. I was looking for a fun but detailed idea for these shoes so i thought to use the chip design of a circuit board. Painted in Gift box blue, Light green, and Gold on a toddlers sized Jordan.

Super Saiyan AF1's

One of my latest to get completed. (all caps) SUPER SAIAYAN AF1'Sssssssss. :D I did these pair for my son who is a huge DBZ fan. Taken advantage of the classic af1 that use to be the number 1 go to shoe to customize on back in the day, i knew i had to kill it. Anything less just wouldn't do. Painting SSJ3 Goku on one shoe and Kid Buu on the other was the perfect match.... literally lol. If you do a little browsing online you may find all the DBZ fan are have the Z fighter in outer space backgrounds. which is why i chose the scene from the planet of the Kai's for mine. you gotta say unique in every piece of art you put out. as a Bonus to his gift i got him and actual full scale Dragon ball. not bad, not bad.

One more kids sonic themed shoe completed. These were for a client who wanted to have these shoes done for his son. His birthday is was within weeks of taking the order. (Can you say crunch time lol) got them completed one day before the party just in time to Express mail them so his son would have a Great one of a kind gift. With all the popular sonic themed shoes floating around my site lately he found an idea that his son would love. I chose a base shoe i was familiar with and I switched up the colors for that 1 of 1 touch. Using a New color called dark Tiffany blue w/matching laces, makes the overall sneaker pop. Fianlly, At request he wanted me to add his son's name to one of the shoes for a really personal feel.

Hedgehog Showdown

Posted by Michael Eberra on July 21, 2013 at 6:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Hey everyone, posting these custom sonic themed dunks I finished for one of my return customer. It seems lately i've been getting tones of request for Sonic the Hedgehog shoes this year, (its okay... ill be dubed the sonic customizer lol) But these really excited me. Well for one they didn't feature Sonic at all lol. Their his counter parts Shadow and Silver the Hedgehog. My customer is somewhat of a collector of sonic memorabilia, and wanted to have another -VS- pair done for his collection. So i guess its safe to say, they most likely wont ever be worn. which is okay with me, i still make sure every pair i do is 100% wearable even if it'll just sit on display :)

okay to start off, going with a silver and black theme to match the colors of the two characters, I used silver for the toe and silver and black for the infamous checker board pattern. First we'll start with Silver the Hedgehog, I chose this pose because one of his main powers is telekinetic ability's where he has a glow of light which flows from his gloves. To add to that detail i actually made the rings on his gloves glow n the dark as they would when he uses his powers. Secondly for Shadow the Hedgehog i wanted a super dramatic pose for him. But he's an "in your face" attitude kinda guy so i've got him zoomed in close giving you the what for lol.

To tie everything all together, i found some checker board laces i knew would be perfect for this shoe..... to back track a bit, i actually got the whole idea of this colorway from the laces themselves. Cause at first i never really know what to expect and walking through the store one day i saw the laces and it hit me! All the ideas just started pouring into my mind. Its always the little things that make a great inspiration turn into a great idea. So there you have it, "Hedgehog Showdown".
